MEET DR. CINDY JOHNSON

Audiologist | Ruby's Grandma | Director of WOO

3 Quick Facts About Dr. Cindy

  1. Farm strong: Raised in Crofton, Nebraska, she brings homegrown values and work ethic to everything she does.
  2. Bookworm vibes: She reads anything and everything… unless it’s scary. No thanks.
  3. Heart-led audiologist: After a short retirement, she came back for the smiles hearing brings—because some callings never go quiet.

Dr. Cindy Johnson brings over three decades of audiology experience—and a whole lot of heart—to the team at Active Hearing Health. A proud farmer’s daughter from Crofton, Nebraska, she began her audiology journey in 1991 and has never looked back (even when she briefly tried to retire!).

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, a Master of Arts in Audiology from the University of Kansas, and a Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Florida. Her early career included 17 years in private practice, five of which she spent as the owner of Family Audiology and Hearing Care in Norfolk. After selling her clinic to Norfolk ENT, she continued practicing there for another 2.5 years before moving on to a new chapter: 15 rewarding years as a pediatric audiologist at Children’s Hospital in Omaha.

In 2023, Dr. Cindy accepted a position at her church, thinking it might be time to retire from audiology. But her passion for helping people—and her love for the joy that comes from hearing smiles—soon drew her back to patient care. Today, she sees patients on Thursdays and Fridays at Active Hearing Health, where she also holds the honorary title of “Director of Woo” thanks to her warmth, humor, and knack for brightening the room.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Cindy wears many hats: wife to Marshall, mom to Sean, mother-in-law to Ellie, and proud grandma to little Ruby. She also tends a big garden, battles her houseplants (and occasionally wins), enjoys golfing, and is always up for a good baseball game. A lifelong learner and avid reader, she’ll dive into just about any book—except horror. (She’s quite sure the monsters under the bed are real.)
